There seems to be a lot of talk of this Jack Bauer fella and whether or not Nick looks like him.
Well, this morning Jane pointed me in the direction of www.myheritage.com. The results are startling. Having fed a picture of Nick into their amazing face-recognition technology and letting it be compared to their celebrity database, I can reveal that Nick does definitively not look like Jack. Oh no. He is, in fact, a dead ringer for Alan Alda.

Well the webcam worked OK, but the images weren't all that good.
It's now been upgraded to a newer, better model with much higher resolution. Clicking on the smaller image on the right (or bottom if you're viewing this page in a small windo/low resolution) at any time should now launch a separate window with a much larger, automatically-refreshing image.
The best bit? Well, the webcam was on an unexpected "Buy One Get One Free" offer. So I have a spare one. And some developing Sea Monkeys, maybe the two will come together?
I was 30 yesterday. It didn't feel strange at all. I received some lovely presents (including the Audioslave Live in Cuba DVD, a harmonica and some Sea Monkeys). I quite enjoyed myself. Jane took the day off work and we went to the fun pool at Pond's Forge, then for a lovely lunch at Old Orleans (picture of Jane's crayon table cloth doodle below), then bowling, then the pub. A nice quiet, relaxing day.
A more lively time is to be had on Saturday at Tim's. I'm sure they'll be some pictures.

I'd always thought setting up a webcam was a bit of an arse. Especially as I wouldn't know where to put one. Over a pint the other night Tim mentioned that it was actually very simple. A bit of reading up, a quick hunt for the old camera and we're up and away as you may see on the right-hand side (click it for a bigger image). Currently just viewing my (dark) road, but I may move it around the house. May also invest in a better camera. Who knows!

Yep, yet another template change.
I get a text message to my mobile phone every time a Comment is left. Unfortunately for the last couple of days I seem to be getting a text every couple of minutes saying "Your site is cool! Buy some Viagara from this link...". I know I'm turning 30 soon, but I'm OK on the erectile function front (at the moment!).
Blogger seem to be doing a good job in stopping the comments from actually being added, but it's still an inconvenience. For this reason I've changed templates and turned on Word Verification for Comments.

Have been feeling a bit down lately with the usual post-Christmas "I spent HOW much?" problems and my fast-approaching landmark birthday.
I stumbled upon an interesting observation by a 41 year-old today and am feeling a bit perkier. The gent wrote "I'm not 41, I'm 21 with 20 years experience". To me that sounds good.
I am attempting to adopt this positive outlook. Thus, in less than a fortnight I shall be celebrating my "21, but with 9 years experience" day. That feels better.
Also, here's some clever pissing statues.

We may soon lose our beloved Wheat Crunchies. Panic-buying has already emptied the vending machines at work of the bacon variety.
I do hope Walkers don't get their hands on the Wheat Crunchies!

"Doom" on your iPod?. Yep. Mainly "just cos" I think.

It's OK though, 'cos Jo has some photos. Honest, I'm not drunk in any of them.
Oh dear.
I am very sorry. This photo of Top Gun's "Maverick" is about the only thing I can cling to in order to try and reconstruct my New Year's Eve. It all went a bit wrong. More or less the last thing I remember is making a Tequila Sunrise with Dave, realising I'd made a mis-calculation with measures/portions (doubled the tequila) and deciding that it would all be OK if I doubled the vodka too. It's all a blur from then.
Nick has some photos here.
I've not had a "gap" like this for a long time. I recall an urgent hunt for the Xbox remote control in order to blast out the Kenny Loggin's "Danger Zone", but not a lot else. Even the firework escapes me.
I am pretty sure I had a good evening, so if you were there - THANK YOU!
New Year's Day on the other hand was a write-off. Completely. I watched Bicentennial Man. I watched two and half hours of "The American Film Institute: 100 Years, 100 Movie Quotes". I also watched Bagpuss. In between sofa/sleeping-bag TV watching I was not very well.
I am still finding random balloon animals around the house. Thank you Chris.
