Tayto to buy Golden Wonder.
Mind you, that's no excuse to put them up to 50p in our office vending machine (hell, they only went from 35 to 45 just before Christmas!). If my maths is right, that's a 30% rise in two months. Where's my 30% pay rise to offset it? I demand to know.

The Sainsbury's near my work now has Diet Coke with Cherry aka Diet Cherry Coke.
It's only taken ten years or so.

The cheek of it!

Once a week I have fast food for my lunch. Yesterday my local KFC decided to try and charge ten pence for previously-free ketchup. The response was a curt "Give me a refund then. I don't pay for ketchup". That did the trick.
I won't stand for it. The customer is always right.
I feel an online complaint to KFC coming on....

Yesterday I phoned my local pizza delivery firm and asked for a thin and crusty supreme.
They sent me Diana Ross.
Boom Boom.

Paris Trip
Sunday, February 12, 2006
As promised, a quick summary of our trip to Paris. Pictures may follow once I've got the film developed.
Having driven to Woking on Friday night, a 03:00 get up on Saturday morning was a little tiring - but necessary to get the first train of the day to London. The only other people at Waterloo when we arrived were several "yoofs" attempting to steal a very heavy metal bench they could hardly lift and two security guards insisting they return it to the other side of the concourse.
Check-in for Eurostar involved me having my entire bag unpacked as the array of PSP, chargers, headphones etc no doubt looked a little silly on the X-ray machine. Once on Eurostar itself, was delighted to find that the only two children on the entire train were in front of us, and had Gameboys with no headphones. Joy.
Arrived in Paris at 10:30 and tried to get to grips with the transport system. Managed to make it to Ruel de Malmaison (20 mins west of city centre) but apparently hadn't bought the right tickets to let us out the barrier. No choice but to jump it, luggage and all.
Hotel was comfortable and nice and warm. Nothing special, but not a hole either. Pleasantly surprised. After a shower, we headed back in to the city via La Grande Arche de la Defense to have a quick look at the Louvre before meeting Christina, Cyril and Louisa for dinner.
Sunday was a busy day with Sacre Coeur (bit cold/foggy to see too much), Musee D'Orsay (free on the first Sunday of the month - bonus!) and Eiffel Tower (much bigger than I expected for some reason) all scheduled. Lots of walking in the freezing cold that didn't do the ankle I twisted the night before much good. My fault for not seeing the steps in the Restaurant Kok Ping.
Monday saw a leisurely breakfast followed by a quick trip to Jane's favourite French makeup shop and the return Eurostar (again, screaming children sat next to us) and the drive back to Sheffield.
In a way it was good that I hurt my ankle as I was able to take Tuesday and Wednesday off work to recover.
Verdict: Lots to see and do. Saw a lot and did a lot, but still lots left to be seen and done on subsequent trips. Cold.
My favourite piece of art from all those we saw? It has to be Vincent van Gogh's portrait of Eugene Boch. Why? Well he is clearly the absolute spit of Mr Frith senior.

Jane and I are off to Paris for the weekend. Quite excited really. Better go and pack I suppose.
Keep an eye out for me here (looks a little foggy at the moment mind)

I won't be posting any pictures while we're actually in Paris as Orange will charge me £25 per megabyte (or part) for the privilege. Scandalous.
