Nose update
Saturday, October 27, 2007
New life tip - never, ever make a doctor's appointment late in the day. I'd never thought of this (trips to the medicine man are thankfully rare). If you book an appointment at 17:15, you sit in the waiting room with a lot of ill people for the full cumulative effect of a whole day of a late-running surgery. Then all the people who've been umming and aahing all day as to whether to see a doctor come rolling in. And because they've made an 'emergency' appointment, get seen first. I was sat in that waiting room listening to screaming kids (and their echoes as there's currently no carpet due to flood damage) for an hour.
Here's the actual exchange once I got to see the quack:
Doc: "Good afternoon. What can I do for you?"
Me: "I think my nose may be broken"
Doc: "It looks it"
3 maybe 4 seconds.
So I've got an appointment at the ENT Clinic in December to see about correcting it.

Status Update
Thursday, October 18, 2007
My life seems to mainly comprise status updates at the moment. So time to do a Blogger one.
- Decorating. Must be close to a new world record for the length of time to paint a staircase. Now approaching 18 months. We'll get there.
- Holiday (my last post) now seems a distant memory. Already planning next one. I quite enjoyed cycling to Cromer and am contemplating a Sea to Sea cycle trip. Not sure who with or when, but I like the idea of it. Other than that, am hoping to do Vegas next year and Australia next winter.
- Health. Have just had a cold. Got over it. Then in a hard-to-explain-pyjama-sleeve-wrapped-round-door-handle-hit-head-on-fridge accident I'm pretty sure I've broken my nose again. Need to get it checked out. It's far wobblier than it should be and feels thoroughly disconnected and breathing is obstructed through one nostril. The strangest thing is that it was a similar fridge accident that broke it last time. What are the odds. Bizarre.
- Chillies. My chilli plant successfully yielded chillies and they were good.
- Christmas plans. Sheffield Christmas this year. Should be good. Looking forward to the break already. And in an absolutle master-stroke I've booked the afternoon of our work Christmas party off! This means I can disappear home and get showered/changed and take a leisurely stroll back into town, maybe having a quick beer on the way.
